Ten ideas to give your dog the best day ever!

You shouldn't get mad when your canine companion wakes you up early. When a dog has to go, they've got to go! Take advantage of the early morning opportunity to enjoy a walk around the block or have a cup of coffee outside before you start your day. It will be good for you and your dog.

Here are ten ideas to give your dog the best day ever.

1. Arrange a play date!

Join your friends and their dogs for a backyard romp! Don't keep your dog from spending time with his bestie.

2. Go camping with them!

Dogs and tents complement each other perfectly. Get outside with your dog at a nearby state park and enjoy the warmer weather. Take some fresh drinking water to ensure everyone is hydrated.

3. Play some sports to start the day off

Build an obstacle course or play a game of soccer! It's a great bonding experience for both you and your dog, and it's a good way for both of you to get some physical exercise. Play a game of fetch with a tennis ball, kick a soccer ball around or play a game of tug. Physical activity is excellent for dogs and humans alike.

4. Make a splash in the water

Is your dog a water lover? Water activities (when done safely) are a great way to keep cool during the hot summer days, whether you are running around in the sprinkler or relaxing on a pool float.

5. Enjoy a special treat with them

A wide variety of restaurants offer treats for dogs, including sweets and meats. You might be surprised by the dog-friendly menu items they offer. Your waiter will be able to help you the next time you enjoy dinner outside!

6. Volunteering with Your Dog

Is your dog friendly with people? Consider fostering a dog who needs socialization if your dog is good with other dogs as a fun activity for everyone. Consider having your dog trained to volunteer at hospitals and schools through a therapy animal program. Search online for local programs. Join your pup on a charity run.

7. Take a road trip

Explore a new destination with your dog or perhaps a favourite. Visit a friend, a dog park, or incorporate some physical activity by visiting a dog-friendly national or state park or beach. Water, a collapsible water bowl, and favourite treats should be included.

8. You can make a Barkuterie Board filled with tasty treats

Barkuterie is like a charcuterie board for dogs! As with the human version, you can create an artistic feast with dog-friendly treats and food. You decide what dog treats make the cut and consider the shapes, sizes, and textures of the food and treats you place on your board. If your dog eats fast, consider placing the treats in a slow-feeder dog bowl to provide mental stimulation and prevent indigestion and bloating. Some dog-safe barkuterie food ideas are:

  • Dog treats include biscuits, or homemade dry food treats.
  • Fruits like blueberries, bananas, and watermelons.
  • Veggies like carrots, cucumbers, leafy greens.
  • Frozen treats like frozen bone broth or pupsicles.
  • Toppings like yogurt, peanut butter & bone broth

9. Take them for a ride.

Dogs love nothing more than going on adventures! Consider taking them on a short trip if all they ever do is stay at home. All their trips in the car should not be to the vet. Take them for a drive around town, to the lake, or to a restaurant patio for dinner, and make it an enjoyable experience for them.

10. Treats while you watch a movie

Does your dog prefer quiet activities? Put on a movie and snuggle on the couch together. Grab your pup's favourite snack, pop some popcorn, and let them enjoy the sofa as much as they like.

Your dog's whole world revolves around you. They love to spend time with you! Get outside and take your dog for an adventure.
